Top Countries Export To Mexico 2020

 Located just below the United States of America and sharing its border with the US, Guatemala, Belize, Cuba, and Honduras is Mexico. The North American country is no pushover when it comes to international trade.


Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is also one of the largest countries involved in the global trade of goods. Canada export data shows that it is one of the leading trade partners of Mexico, with a 2.8% share in its total exports alongside other countries.

Mexico’s total imports in 2020 from across the world amounted to USD 383.3 billion. The leading countries exporting to Mexico in order of their rank are:

Mexico ranks 11th in terms of the largest exporting countries in the world and 12th in terms of the largest importing countries. Delivery Trucks, Tractors, Beers, Tropical Fruits and Railway Freight Cars are some of Mexico’s largest exports, and the top imports along with their import values in 2020 include:

  1. Electrical Machinery- USD 82.9 billion (21.6% of total imports)

What’s The State Of Mexico’s Trade In North America?

US trade data and Canada trade data shows that in 2019, Mexico was the largest importer of Other Sugars, Corrugated Paper, Aluminium Pipes, Stranded Copper Wire and Cyanides.

The data above shows that Mexico purchases a majority of its total imports from the United States. Canada export data revealed that 46.3% of its total imports are from the USA and Canada in continental terms. Those imports included mostly petroleum oil, vehicle accessories and petroleum gas.  

Canada export data also shows that Mexico’s imports from Canada included aluminium alloys, wheat, vehicle parts and accessories, fuel and diesel and goods meant for aircraft manufacture. 

The study above also shows how Canada is one of the major trade partners of Mexico. The same figures are also represented in the Canada trade data. Statistically, USD 11 billion or 2.8% of Mexico’s trade happens with Canada.
